Team TOTAL CHAOS Joins The – 2 Mile High Club!

The 2014 FJ Summit is over, and we met some amazing people during our adventure in Colorado. We were able to share over a 100 combined years of off road racing experience with several new 4wd Toyota off road enthusiasts by being trail guides, and for the first time at the event one of those opportunities was to lead a ladies driven “powder puff” run. There was no lack of CHAOS with our 2 days of guided tours in the form of radio banter and laughs. Check out each day’s individual album to see some of Colorado’s most amazing scenic trails.

Day 1 – Alpine Loop

Day 1’s conga line was awesome. Some drivers had never wheeled in the dirt before. That goes for a few loaner vehicles directly off the Toyota lot as well. TC had a crew of troops on hand to share the fun – Patio Burrito, BCG 1, Rebel  & Brando, Scotty P Totty, Sarah Smiles, Rob Zombie and CHAOS. Our trail guests included Zombie Response Team with co doggy Tucker, Rookie & I-Spy, Illinois Pro, Great White Tortoise, Great Grey Squirrel, and Florida Flat. What a great day of laughs, holsters, mud puddles and marmots. We only had one trail repair from a slow leaker on Florida Flat’s FJ. As usual we were staffed with Team Locos Mocos and the “We Fix Stuff Free” policy. BCG 1 quickly swapped the flat with Scotty P Totty, and away we went. Alpine Loop was a great trail, we shot some amazing images you can check out below and hiked some awesome old mine town ruins.

Day 2 – Powder Puff Run – Imogene & Ophir Pass

Day 2 Klunking-Rod, another female off road racer from Jimmy’s 4×4 out of Cortez joined me in the Brown Derby to lead the ladies run. Its was great to have a whacky chick that also honks the horn and believes in driving in a complete circle at all the round about’s to derb with for the day! I thought that was just me and a “baja” thing. We decided to kidnap Mile High to join our CHAOS crew over Imogene Pass in case we found a keg in a creek and needed his FJ equipped beer tap. We never found one, but it did not stop us from keg hunting. We topped 13,224 feet on the ladies run. Jogging at that altitude can wipe you out as I learned while juggling a 5 lb. camera and lens. Heck simply hiking the peak wiped out Patio Burrito and laid him on his back! No its not a bathroom up there he said, but it’s a GREAT reason to get sedentary people to take a hike!

This off road opportunity was one of the most rewarding trips I have ever experienced. Seeing the excitement on several of the girls faces who have never wheeled before as they navigated up obstacles, plowed through creeks, hammered their husbands FJ’s or Land Cruisers and used 4wd low range for the first time was just a hoot. Their passion for the dirt and desire to learn the sport of off road reminded me how amazing it is to be involved in this industry. Its not just chasing the checkered flags. Its about sharing the experience, honking your horn while doing a complete circle in a round about, meeting new people and exploring the great outdoors that makes the sport of off road so amazing to be a part of. Check out some powder puff Imogene trail pics from the trip in its album below. Thanks IH8Mud Heather, Nicole & Katie, Kristi & Sherry, Jessica, Faith, Crissi, Theresa and anyone I forgot PM the shop. I will get your name added. It was an awesome opportunity to off road with all of you!

Day 3 the crew tapped out. It was relaxing in a chair with a back drop of the waterfall. We added Wanderlush, Powder Cowboy + the 2 minions to our crew for the recreationally wild afternoon. I swear it was like being a part of the off road breakfast club. It was a perfect way to end an already 10 star epic adventure.

Thank you to everyone who joined our guided tours and to the entire staff of FJ Summit who host a one of a kind event. SEE YOU IN THE DIRT!
